Tutoring & Social Skills Groups
Our Social Skills Groups provide a supportive, engaging environment where students in grades 1–6 learn and practice the skills needed to navigate everyday social situations. Through structured activities, games, role-playing, discussions, and guided peer interactions, students develop the tools to build meaningful relationships and feel more confident in social settings.
Groups are intentionally kept small to allow for individualized support and opportunities for every child to participate. Students are grouped with peers of similar ages and social skill needs whenever possible.
Skills may include:
Starting and maintaining conversations
Making and keeping friends
Understanding social cues and body language
Taking turns and sharing ideas
Problem-solving and conflict resolution
Managing emotions in social situations
Flexible thinking and perspective-taking
Building self-confidence and self-advocacy skills
Our approach is positive, strengths-based, and focused on helping children transfer newly learned skills into school, home, and community settings.
*Listed price is per single session, which is typically around 45 minutes in length.

Our New York State certified teachers provide 1:1 private tutoring for students in order to:
Build strong foundations in reading, writing, and math
Close learning gaps with personalized, supportive instruction
Grow confidence in a calm, encouraging environment
Strengthen organization, study skills, and independence.
Help to grow executive functioning skills
Individual tutoring is available to students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Teachers are trained in working with students with and without disabilities, in a variety of instructional approaches designed to meet the specific child’s needs.

Would you child work better in a small group of 2-3 students? We can do that! Our small group instruction model groups students based on similarity of need in order to provide:
Building strong foundations in reading, writing, and math
Re-teaching and pre-teaching of concepts to ensure true understanding.
Development of organization, time management, & study habits
Calm, structured sessions that reduce stress and build confidence
Development of social skills or social language needs
Small group tutoring is available for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. The availability of small group tutoring depends upon similarity of needs of other students who have signed up for the service. We look to have students grouped both by similar ages/grade levels, as well as by similarity in the area of need itself. My 5 year old has been attending the Social Skills group... and we ALL love it! My son looks forward to going and to playing games with his new friends. I love that after every session, the facilitator who is a speech teacher (and is also warm, inviting, and patient) gives us a session summary and what we can do to support our little ones at home to enforce the session's theme. It really is making a difference. My son's day camp leader says he is more sociable with his peers and I've noticed his growth as well. It has been a fantastic experience so far and I'm hoping we will continue attending beyond the summer, too! Thank you ,Laurel Learning, for creating this group, we are so grateful!

Our child has had the opportunity to participate in Laurel Learning’s social skills group, which has been a wonderful experience. It has provided a positive, supportive environment where they can practice social-emotional skills and build relationships with peers in a small-group setting. We’ve been very happy with the experience and are looking forward to our child attending this fall.
